CPeurope 2012 Highlights!

 Campuseros!

This week at CP HQ, whilst staring into our computer screens and laughing about ‘crazy-eyes girlfriend’, we had a Eureka moment. We reached out to you, our beloved Campuseros, to ask you to tweet in pics, viddies, memories and anything else pertaining to your favourite bits from Campus Party Europe 2012!

This was not, contrary to popular belief, to inflate our own egos. Oh no, we had a profound, almost sacred goal to be achieved. Those Campuseros who had never been to a Campus Party before (there are indignant cries here at CP HQ - indignant cries) were to be given the opportunity to gage just how much fun there was to be had (between 8.7 and infinity was the general consensus around here).  We had a stream of exciting tweets and they included some fabulous pics, funny vids and great memories.

Thank you all for your kind and brilliant contributions! Some of your best bits involved hearing Sir Tim Berners-Lee speak, experiencing the Open Tech School and Arduino Workshop, meeting David Cuartielles (Arduino Co-Founder – more on Arduino in our next blog!), shaking hands with the Commissioner of the Digital Agenda for Europe and then some.

Below are a few of the pictures and vids you sent in including the world’s funkiest keyboard; shiny bugs; tent armies; robots playing the drums; remote-control can-opening (the future’s bright, people); speakers; social media vibrantly coming to life; our hot servers; Sir Tim Berners Lee and, well, quirks. Funny quirks.

So keep sending us what’s hot for you and, even, what’s not.  We’re excited to see what you’re gonna share with us next! (less cat memes though please).

Ready to tech and roll? I think so.

CAMPUS PARTY EUROPE 2013 FESTIVAL – COMING TO A TENT NEAR YOU!

image

Rather large tent isn’t it? Well, we are expecting quite a few of you. We were thinking about all you Campuseros (it’s not creepy, really, even though we do it pretty much all the time), so we thought we would send you a quick update from Campus Party London HQ.

At the moment we’re working closely with Universities and tech communities, so that you are all surrounded and informed by those at the forefront of the digital world.  Those pioneers of the technological wilderness.  Those unafraid to dive deep into the uncharted depths of the scientific sea.  Those who question, without fear for their livelihoods or their bodily safety, the nature of our… There’s a lot of head shaking and eyebrow raising at CP HQ all of a sudden, so let’s just leave that there. You get the point; we are making Campus Party Europe 2013 even more jam-packed with fascinating, worthwhile knowledge and bang-up-to-date (if not woah-look-at-that) breakthroughs in all the best digi-stuff.  This is no easy feat; last year we had UCL, Humboldt-Universitat zu Berlin and UPC – Barcelona Tech plus communities like Microsoft, Mozilla and Facebook.  That’s right, didn’t expect that didja?  But, we are so dedicated (or plain crazy) that we are going to evolve that, rather hallowed, list of names.  How you ask?  Well, we are aiming at a LARGER number of European Universities and communities so that their contributions are as relevant and relatable to you, our dear Campuseros, as possible.  We are looking at the top tech Universities in the UK right this very second and are hoping to make our partnership announcements very soon.

So, if you’re attending a University and you think they cater, quite brilliantly, to all your tech-needs, or if you think nothing could ever, like ever, be more awesome than the tech community you’re part of, then please grab your phones/computers/tech-enabled cockatoo and tweet us @campuspartyeu, send us a message on Facebook Campus Party Europe or drop us an email campusparty@telefonica.com.

Get in touch! However you want to, even if it’s just to say HI! We’d love to hear from you. We’re hoping that you’re as excited as we are – Campus Party Europe 2013! It’s going to be epic.

Campus Party Europe In London 2013

HELLO CAMPUSEROS!

A huge, loud, in your face welcome to the official blog of Campus Party Europe 2013! Over the coming months we will be posting information, funny (ish) stuff, news, updates and rather a lot more to get all you wonderful campuseros pacing, nail-biting and just unbearably excited for that most special week in technology 2-7 September.

There has been a lot of mad-working, excited-squeaking, innovative-thinking and typing-until-your-head-hits-the-keyboard-ing going on here at Campus Party London HQ and we have no intention of letting up; no sir, not until we make Campus Party Europe 2013 at London’s O2 Arena the most brilliant, bustling, baking-hot London jaw-droppingly amazing Campus Party Europe Experience yet!

Last year, in Berlin, Campus Party welcomed the founding father of the World Wide Web no less and one of the most influential authors of our time as key note speakers, hosted dynamic forums with real experts discussing the most relevant and valuable topics surrounding tech and digital industries and consumers  - from how tech innovation could influence social innovation to the necessity of new business models in a paradigm shifting technological age - and ran competitions to celebrate the ideas and initiatives of innovators and early practitioners of digital technologies.

Sound like a good time? Well, we apologise, because this year’s event won’t show you ‘just’ a good time. Campus Party Europe 2013 will be, quite simply, the best thing you will do in 2013; it’s going to knock your Tetris-patterned socks off and we’re just getting warmed up.

This year’s event will be bigger as we will have 10,000 of you, every day, in our wonderful world of all things tech; it will be better as we open our doors to so many more of you, not just those who love gaming, hacking, robotics and nanotechnology but all those of you who have a burning idea for a start-up, a bit of entrepreneurial genius lurking within, a desire to contribute in any way to the new digital age or just a passion for learning as much as you can about what tomorrow might bring.

We’ll even explore and discover innovations and revelations in the great, big world of tech, such as e-health and e-sports and by hosting the world’s first digital skills market place.

That doesn’t mean to say we’re not going to make you traditional tech-lovers out there go weak at the knees, too; we’re planning challenging and ingenious competitions you can really get stuck into and speakers and discussion platforms that will not only be informative but inspirational, because the next digital age is anyone’s for the taking. All this in a spectacular venue, with transformed layouts, more interactive spaces for communication and all the requirements you need to get online and tell everyone you know, love or suspect exists that they missed out because Campus Party Europe 2013 is the only place to be.

For a small taster of how enthusiastic we are, how crazy this event will be and how far we’re willing to push ourselves to make this Campus Party as incredible as technologically possible, check out our launch ‘party’:

Well, after all that, the excited-squeaking has reached dangerous levels here at CP HQ and so it should. We can’t wait to welcome you all to the best tech event you will ever attend, so make sure to watch this space for news about #CPeurope in London; what’s hot in the tech world and this year’s great line-up - being announced soon.– you won’t want to miss a thing.
